2015 Toyota Sequoia recalls & complaints
Source: NHTSA, updated daily. Last checked 2026-10-18. Recalls apply to specific VINs — run your VIN to confirm.
3 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Wheels / tires
What's wrong, in plain English: A wheel or tire can fail while driving. The Rockstar wheels were installed with lugnuts that may crack and detach.
What could happen: Lugnuts that crack and detach may cause the wheels to separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: SET will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement lugnuts, free of charge. The recall began June 23, 2017. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET's number for this recall is SET17A.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2015 SEQUOIA.
- Book a repair at any authorized Toyota dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 17V311000 (manufacturer code SET17A).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-866-405-4226.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

2. Steering
What's wrong, in plain English: If steering fails you can lose control of the car. The power steering gear assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can result in an oil leak.

The fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the power steering gear assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 21, 2022. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 21TB10 and 21TA10.
