3 safety recalls, most serious first

High risk Campaign 24V135000 · announced 23/02/2024 (11 months ago)

1. Electrical system

What's wrong, in plain English: Wiring, modules, batteries. Short circuits can cause stalls or fires. The high-voltage battery module may contain insufficient weld seams, which can result in the battery overheating.

What could happen: An overheated battery module increases the risk of a fire.

The fix: Dealers will replace the high-voltage battery module, free of charge. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2024 I4 GRAN COUPE.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized BMW dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 24V135000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-525-7417.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

2. Body / structure

What's wrong, in plain English: Body panels, frame, doors, hood, trunk or latches. The left-side longitudinal beam may crack, compromising the structural integrity of the chassis.

What could happen: Reduced structural integrity may result in damage to the high voltage battery during a crash, increasing the risk of fire.

The fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the left-side longitudinal beam as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 14, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
