What's wrong, in plain English: The parts that send engine power to the wheels. Failure can mean a sudden loss of power or the car rolling away. The affected vehicles were built without a redundant clutch disengagement switch. Without a redundant switch, a loss of signal from the brake air pressure switch can prevent the clutch from automatically disengaging when the brake is applied.
What could happen: Without a signal to disengage the clutch when the brakes are applied, the distance required to stop the truck may lengthen, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Volvo Trucks will notify owners and dealers will inspect and repair the vehicles if necessary. The recall began on August 26, 2013. Volvo's recall number is RVXX1303. Owners may contact Volvo at 1-336-393-2000.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2009 VNM.
- Book a repair at any authorized Volvo dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 13V268000.
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.

Component: POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
Summary: Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo) is recalling certain model year 2007-2014 VAH, VHD, VNL, VNM, and VT models. The affected vehicles were built without a redundant clutch disengagement switch. Without a redundant switch, a loss of signal from the brake air pressure switch can prevent the clutch from automatically disengaging when the brake is applied.

MY VOLVO VNM TRACTOR TRUCK HAS AN OIL PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT. I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH BECAUSE THE TRUCK' COMPUTER DECIDED IT NEED TO STOP THE TRUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE TRUCK'S COMPUTER GOES INTO "LIMP MODE".
