1. Backup camera

What's wrong, in plain English: The rear camera may not show an image when reversing. Due to a software error in the in-vehicle infotainment system (A-IVI), the rearview camera image may freeze, or not appear on the display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2024 OUTLANDER SPORT.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Mitsubishi dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 25V369000 (manufacturer code SR-25-001).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

Car during acceleration feels very jerky, safety issue as during turns if acceleration it might jerk make it feel a bit unknown of what speed it might be. additionally such jerkiness might cause driver to be kicked back into seat and head rest potentially causing injury. Feel like it might be CVT slipping at times.
