2 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Electrical system
What's wrong, in plain English: Wiring, modules, batteries. Short circuits can cause stalls or fires. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."
What could happen: An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will inspect and update the instrument panel display software, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 26, 2025. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Hyundai's number for this recall is 026G.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2024 GV80.
- Book a repair at any authorized Genesis dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 25V105000 (manufacturer code 026G).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.

In March 2026, I was driving on the freeway when the car shut itself off and put itself into neutral and accessory modes. There was no warning. This put the safety of myself and other drivers on the road at serious risk because I was unable to accelerate or adequately control my vehicle without warning. The dealer says the car "is operating as designed."

I have a concern with the power folding rear seats to increase the cargo space. It doesn't stopped if you are sitting in the seat and pushed the button. I tested it myself. This to me is very alarming and Genesis need to fix it or someone will get hurt or killed like the Hyundai Palisades case. A child shouldn't have to lose their life for Hyundai to fix a…
