4 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Steering
What's wrong, in plain English: If steering fails you can lose control of the car. The bolt that secures the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear box may be improperly tightened, which could result in separation of the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear box.
What could happen: Separation of the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear box can result in the loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will inspect the intermediate shaft bolt, replacing it if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 1, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S13.
What to do

- Book a repair at any authorized Ford dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 22V145000 (manufacturer code 22S13).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-866-436-7332.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
