1 safety recall, most serious first

High risk Campaign 19V885000 · announced 12/12/2019 (6 years ago)

1. Seat belts

What's wrong, in plain English: Seat belts may not hold you in a crash. The Occupant Restraint Control (ORC) module may inadvertently deploy the air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners.

What could happen: The unexpected deployment of the air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners increase the risk of injury and a crash.

The fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ORC module, free of charge. The recall began February 5, 2020. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is VE4.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2006 VIPER.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Dodge dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 19V885000 (manufacturer code VE4).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-853-1403.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
