1. Equipment

What's wrong, in plain English: A part or accessory supplied with the vehicle. A cutting machine may have scored the copper propane tubing resulting in unknown long-term reliability.

What could happen: If the copper tubing fails, propane can escape leading to a fire or explosion which can result in property damage, personal injury, or death.

The fix: Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will replace the copper tubing, free of charge. The recall began on September 6, 2012. Owners may contact Winnebago Industries Owner Relations at 1-641-585-6939.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2012 VIEW PROFILE.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Winnebago dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 12V389000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-641-585-6939.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
