1. Equipment

What's wrong, in plain English: A part or accessory supplied with the vehicle. The weight label on the affected vehicles incorrectly states the fresh water capacity in gallons when it should be stated in pounds.

What could happen: The incorrect information may cause the trailer to be overloaded, possibly resulting in a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will replace the incorrect weight labels with corrected labels, free of charge. The recall began on January 19, 2017. Owners may contact Winnebago owner relations at 1-574-825-5250 extension 5220.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2016 SCORPION.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Winnebago dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 16V719000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-574-825-5250.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
