1. Transmission / drivetrain

What's wrong, in plain English: The parts that send engine power to the wheels. Failure can mean a sudden loss of power or the car rolling away. The transmission parking pawl may not engage when the vehicle is shifted into park, which can result in a vehicle rollaway.

What could happen: A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of a crash.

The fix: Owners are advised to apply the parking brake every time they park their vehicle. Dealers will replace the transmission parking pawl pin, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 2022. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R22A2 R2…

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2022 TITAN CREW CAB.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Nissan dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 22V457000 (manufacturer code R22A2 R22A3).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-867-7669.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

2. Backup camera — software update

What's wrong, in plain English: The rear camera may not show an image when reversing. When the Sirius XM subscription is set to "Not Subscribed," it may cause the infotainment head unit to reboot, resulting in an inoperative rearview camera. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

What could happen: An inoperative rearview camera display reduces the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: The Infotainment system software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 29, 2022. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R22A5 PC901 PC902.

The parking brake has never been sufficient to prevent the vehicle from rolling slightly even after the vehicle has been placed in park.
