3 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Engine
What's wrong, in plain English: Engine problems range from stalling to fire. The battery monitor sensor may short-circuit and overheat, causing a fire in the engine compartment while parked or driving.
What could happen: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
The fix: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will add an in-line fuse to the battery monitor sensor power circuit, free of charge. What to do
- Park outside, away from houses, garages and other cars — there is a fire risk even when the vehicle is off.
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2017 MKC.
- Book a repair at any authorized Lincoln dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 23V378000 (manufacturer code 23S28).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-866-436-7332.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
