1. Transmission / drivetrain

What's wrong, in plain English: The parts that send engine power to the wheels. Failure can mean a sudden loss of power or the car rolling away. The rear inner driveshaft may have been improperly heat-treated, allowing it to break under load and resulting in a loss of drive power.

What could happen: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

The fix: Dealers will replace the rear inner driveshaft, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 29, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's numbers for this recall are 253(H), 017G(G).

What to do

  2. Book a repair at any authorized Hyundai dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 24V065000 (manufacturer code 253(H), 017G(G)).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-855-371-9460.

I was driving my vehicle and it suddenly lost all power. I had to stop in an unsafe place on the road and wait to get my car towed. I had previously been to the dealership three times to have recall and software updates done that we’re supposed to fix this issue. Apparently the ICCU to be a terrible problem.

Vehicle was involved in a double fatal. After viewing of dashcam video I suspect a malfunction of the vehicle may have occurred.
