2 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Fuel system
What's wrong, in plain English: Fuel lines, tank or pump. Fuel problems usually mean a leak, and leaks mean fire risk. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Grom 125 motorcycles manufactured June 12, 2013, to September 8, 2015, and 2014-2015 NSS300 & NSS300A motorcycles manufactured June 18, 2013 to March 19, 2015. The resin bracket inside the fuel pump of the affected motorcycles may swell and cause the pump impeller to seize.
What could happen: If the fuel pump seizes, the motorcycle will stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly with one that uses a metal bracket internally, free of charge. The recall began October 2016. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are KC3 and KC4. Note: This recall supersedes recall 14…
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2014 GROM125.
- Book a repair at any authorized Honda dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 16V661000 (manufacturer code KC3 and KC4).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-888-234-2138.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
