1. Engine

What's wrong, in plain English: Engine problems range from stalling to fire. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2024-2025 ADV160 scooters. The oil pump driven gear may fail, resulting in a loss of drive power.

What could happen: Loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash or injury.

The fix: Dealers will replace the oil pump driven gear, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed August 6, 2025. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is KR9.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2024 ADV160.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Honda dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 25V195000 (manufacturer code KR9).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
