High risk Campaign 19V574000 · announced 05/08/2019 (7 years ago)

1. Visibility (wipers / glass)

What's wrong, in plain English: You may not be able to see the road clearly. The kit did not include replacement rear red reflectors for the ones that are eliminated by installing this kit. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

What could happen: Without the rear red reflectors, the motorcycle has reduced visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Harley-Davidson has notified owners, and dealers will install the replacement reflectors, free of charge. The recall began August 19, 2019. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson's number for this recall is 0629.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2019 FLTRU.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Harley-Davidson dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 19V574000 (manufacturer code 0629).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-258-2464.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

Dunlop tire size D180/65-16 has tread separation issues causing tire failure on Harley Davidson touring motorcycle. I have had a total of 8 tires replaced under warranty on 3 different bikes. At various motorcycle events I have seen over 100 tires with the same separation issue
