1. Equipment

What's wrong, in plain English: A part or accessory supplied with the vehicle. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2023-2024 XLR Toy Hauler recreational trailers. The listed Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) exceeds the weight rating on the upper deck chassis. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, "Wheels and Rims-Other than Passenger Cars."

What could happen: Referencing the incorrect GVWR may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Dealers will install a new corrected label, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 16, 2026. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0432. Forest River's number for this recall is 79-2067.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2024 XLR TOYHAULER.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Forest River dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 26V390000 (manufacturer code 79-2067).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-574-642-0432.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
