2 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Suspension
What's wrong, in plain English: Parts can break and cause loss of control. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2016-2017 XLR ToyHauler recreational trailers, models XLT23KW and WZXLT23KW. These vehicles were built with axle equalizers that are too long.
What could happen: An equalizer that is too short in length may cause a failure of the equalizer and/or axle springs, resulting in a possible loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install the correct equalizers, free of charge. The recall began on June 28, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0432. Forest River's number for this recall is 45-05312017-0415.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2016 XLR TOYHAULER.
- Book a repair at any authorized Forest River dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 17V366000 (manufacturer code 45-05312017-0415).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-574-642-0432.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

2. Equipment
What's wrong, in plain English: A part or accessory supplied with the vehicle. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Forest River XLR Toyhauler recreational trailers, models XLT25KW, XLT25KW-W, XLT28KW and XLT28KW-W.
