1. Equipment

What's wrong, in plain English: A part or accessory supplied with the vehicle. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Surveyor recreational trailers, models SVT243RBS and ORSVT243RBS. The affected vehicles have Federal Certification Placards that list an incorrect tire and rim size from what is actually installed on the vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

What could happen: If the operator installs tires that are the size that is indicated on the placard, it can cause poor vehicle handling, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Forest River will notify owners and mail them a corrected Federal placard label, free of charge. The recall began on December 2, 2015. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-3119 extension 205. Forest River's number for this recall is 37-11052015-0106.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2014 SURVEYOR.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Forest River dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 15V741000 (manufacturer code 37-11052015-0106).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-574-642-3119.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
