What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2014 FR3.
- Book a repair at any authorized Forest River dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 15V798000 (manufacturer code 51-11102015-0109).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-574-389-4600.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

Summary: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2014 FR3, 2009 Forest River Encore, Sportscoach Elite, and Aurora, 2008-2009 Cruise Master, 2012-2015 Aviator, 2007-2014 Georgetown, 2007-2009 Legend, 2008-2012 Ridgeview, 2008-2014 Cross Country, 2010-2014 Coachmen Encounter, 2009-2014 Pathfinder, Solera, Mirada, Prism, and Pursuit motorhomes. The affected vehicles are equipped with certain Lippert-brand Coachstep Double and Triple Electric Steps. These steps use a bolt to attach the fan gear assembly to the steps. This bolt may fracture allowing the fan gear to disengage from the steps. As a result, the steps may not remain in the expected position and may be unstable.
Consequence: Unstable entry and exit steps increase the risk of injury.

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT SAFE TO USE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. HIGH BEAMS WITH FOG LIGHTS ARE SOMEWHAT BETTER BUT STILL NOT VERY BRIGHT. I HAVE HAD TO AVOID DRIVING AT ALL IF AT ALL POSSIBLE DUE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I UNDERSTAND THAT BY 2017 FOREST RIVER RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM AND UPGRADED THE HEADLIGHTS BUT HAS NOT RECALLED OR NOTIFIED PRIOR OWNERS OF THE DEFEC…

I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE MY COACH AT NIGHT BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE DUE TO THE INADEQUATE LIGHTING THAT FOREST RIVER HAD ORIGINALLY INSTALLED ON THE FR3. FOREST RIVER IS WELL AWARE OF THE DEFICIENCY AS THEY HAVE CHANGED TO THE UPDATED MODULE SOMEWHERE AROUND THE MIDYE…
