1. Visibility (wipers / glass)

What's wrong, in plain English: You may not be able to see the road clearly. THE CLEAR AND BLACK PRIMER MAY BE MISSING ON CERTAIN WINDSHIELDS WHICH MAY RESULT IN AN INSUFFICIENT BOND BETWEEN THE GLASS AND CAB STRUCTURE.

What could happen: AN INSUFFICIENT BOND MAY RESULT IN A SEPARATION OF THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE CAB, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.

The fix: FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REMOVE AND INSPECT THE WINDSHIELD FOR URETHANE ADHESION, AND REPLACE OR REINSTALL THE WINDSHIELD AS REQUIRED, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 31, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-866-436-7332.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2012 F-650.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Ford dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 12V318000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-866-436-7332.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
