2025 BMW X4 recalls & complaints
Source: NHTSA, updated daily. Last checked 2026-10-18. Recalls apply to specific VINs — run your VIN to confirm.
1 safety recall, most serious first
1. Airbags
What's wrong, in plain English: The airbag system — the part that is supposed to protect you in a crash. The inner-left roof frame near the head air bag may have a crack that can damage the head air bag during deployment.
What could happen: An air bag that is damaged during deployment can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
The fix: Dealers will inspect and if necessary, repair the inner-left roof frame, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 28, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2025 X4.
- Book a repair at any authorized BMW dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 24V910000.
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-525-7417.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

The authorized dealership (BMW of South Miami) explicitly instructed my wife to continue operating a vehicle subject to an active engine starter fire hazard recall because they 'have not seen any vehicles catch on fire yet.' Furthermore, BMW Corporate failed to respond to a written 48-hour legal demand requesting alternative safe transportation or a loaner…

The starter needs to be replaced. An appointment was made with the dealership. I took my car with the understanding that the part was there and it would be replaced. BMW kept my car for 24 hours. The next day I was informed that they in fact, did not have the part and they have no ETA of when the part would be available. I'm told that the car could actual…
